Mission and Ministry
The Church’s mission and ministry is that of Jesus Christ as that is the only mission and ministry that we have and the only mission and ministry that shares the Good News of salvation.
We have been given the Great Commission (Mattew 28:16-20) the Church is called to serve in its community and around the world – Summit Church participates and supports the following through small group ministry:
HIS Kids Christian School's purpose is to educate children and guide them to Jesus Christ through an academically challenging Bible-rich curriculum. We desire to see children develop in a balanced way - spiritually, mentally, physically, and socially, just as Jesus did.
At HIS Kids Christian School, our staff is equipped to address the many areas developing in a child’s life. Our teachers enhance children’s spiritual development in an intentional and nurturing manner. Academics are taken seriously while including God within all areas of study. Cultivating a worldview in which God has His rightful place, we look to the Bible for guidance in answering life’s big questions. We want to see all our students reach their God-given potential by helping to develop their unique skills and talents.
Loaves & Fishes Food Bank
The Loaves and Fishes Food Bank is still doing their job of serving 45 to 50 families each month.
We are not getting much food from the county or state but with the money donations we receive we are doing okay. We also receive produce and meat from the Lighthouse each month.
We are very thankful for the people who volunteer each month to help.
Food Bank co-chairs: Kim Steighner and Carol Novy
Summit Church Library
The Summit Church Library began in 1979. A special appreciation goes to the many people who have helped out. Each year we add new fiction and non-fiction books, videos and DVDs as well as relevant used books that will appeal to all ages. If you have any suggestions, please place them in the Library mailbox.
Each summer we hold a children's Summer Reading Challenge. We average 13 participants who complete the challenge by reading 10 or more books throughout the summer months. When completed, the reader picks a hardcover book to keep.
We want to thank everyone for their support over the years. Without that support, we would not have the great library we have. If you would like to place an item in memory or in honor of someone or if you have a suggestion for purchases, please see one of the committee members.
Thanks again, The Library Committee: Anna Crider, Kathi Fischer, Darlene Grabe, Judy Sutton
Visitation
This small group engages in visitation of people who are unable to come to the Church, and of individuals or families that have attended the Church.
Promise of New Life Network
Promise of New Life Network is a pro-life organization that support women that are considering abortion. Promise of New Life Network provides counseling, and physical support for pregnant mothers. Summit Church supports this ministry financially, and by diaper and clothing drives. If you are interested in supporting this mission, please contact the church!
How to donate to missions through Summit Church:
On the offering envelopes, there is a line for mission donations. If you specify an amount and mission on that line, that money goes to that mission in addition to what the Mission Committee decides to give them. For example, if you write Food Bank $25, then the Food Bank is given $25 in addition to any funds that might be allocated from the general mission fund. If you leave the front of your envelope blank or put a check mark under Summit and Missions, then 10% of your offering will go into a general fund for missions.
The distribution of funds from the general mission fund is determined by the Mission Committee, which meets to decide how to divide the fund among the missions sponsored by the church. The Mission Committee also is responsible for keeping the congregation informed about the missions we support.
